uSky Centre construction progress

[20.05.2022]

The year 2021 for uSky Test & Certification Centre was remarkable for the commencement of pilot operation of Test Track 1 with a 400 m long flexible string rail overpass (spans of 100 and 200 m) of the uSky suspended transport & infrastructure complex.

Test Track 1 comprises:

  • rolling stock service station including control room, electrical room, server room, workshop, etc.;

  • passenger station;

  • 2 intermediate supports and 2 anchor supports combined with stations;

  • flexible string rail track structure;

  • power supply and communication systems, building services (water supply and sewerage), motor roads, landscaping, etc.

  • uSky freight and passenger rolling stocks: rail steel-wheeled electric vehicles uPods.

Test Track 1 enabled uSky Transport to carry out tests and pilot operations under real-life conditions:

  • off-the-ground uSky transport and infrastructure complex operating rules for day and night time;

  • schedule of passenger and freight uPods;

  • functioning of the automatic control system, control room, and operators of the complex;

  • the issues related to the maintenance of stations, string rail overpass, rail electric vehicles uPods, automatic control system, building services, and other structural members of the uSky transport and infrastructure complex.

In 2021, uSky transport and infrastructure complex with all the structural members was for the first time certified in tropical make for the compliance with international standards (certifying body TUV SW Standardization Certifications):

  1. prestressed string rail transport overpass;

  2. urban passenger uPod (steel-wheeled EV with an onboard automated control system);

  3. anchor supports (combined with station structures, workshop, and control room);

  4. intermediate supports;

  5. passenger station with building services;

  6. service station (including control room, workshop and building services);

  7. automatic control system for the uSky transport and infrastructure complex.

These works made it possible to identify the optimal parameters of uSky transport and infrastructure solutions and their structural elements for further commercial implementation started in 2021.

At present, the construction of two more 2.4 km long test tracks is underway at uSky Test & Certification Centre.
