About certification of uSky transport and infrastructure solutions

[30.04.2022]

All the components of uSky transport and infrastructure complex are developed in compliance with applicable international and local regulations. Harmonizing the local and international requirements enables the agile adaptability of uSky products to any market. More than 600 specialists are involved in the design, certification, and adaptation of the products in uST Group.

The internal statutory framework is based on the most stringent international requirements suitable for the string transport concept (UN, EU, USA, etc. regulations) for automobile (cars, including electric vehicles, buses) and railway (tram, metro, railroad) modes of transport.

Transport and infrastructure complex objects subject to conformity assessment are:

  1. Vehicle (EV):

    1. Compliance validation as per the form approved by a regulatory (transport, national safety) authority.

  2. Control system:

    1. communications;

    2. software;

    3. rail EV control system;

    4. infrastructure objects control system.

  3. Infrastructure objects:

    1. string rail overpass;

    2. power system;

    3. buildings and structures.

The process of validating conformity of string transport systems globally:

  • approval of requirements with the regulatory authority in a specific country;

  • testing in relevant accredited laboratories;

  • developing the proof of safety.

uSky Transport develops transport and infrastructure solutions applying the current international statutory framework and system (integrated) approaches in design and construction to ensure reliability and safety, serviceability, and maintainability. In addition, the company’s activities are based on the principles of the international quality management system.

These approaches are the basis and guarantee of successful fulfilment of all the requirements to validate the compliance of uSky complex with regulatory documents. Engineering construction facilities including uSky string rail overpass and passenger stations are designed given the requirements of Eurocodes (Eurocodes): Standards EN 1990 – EN 1999 (Eurocode 0 – Eurocode 9).

The Certificate of Conformity of uSky transport and infrastructure complex in the Emirate of Sharjah (UAE) attests to the safety of the tropical uSky complex version and covers:

  • transport overpass (prestressed string rail track structure);

  • uPod (steel-wheeled EV with automated control system);

  • anchor supports (combined with station structures);

  • intermediate supports;

  • passenger station;

  • service station (including control room and workshop).

In these facilities, all technological solutions undergo numerous check-ups and tests in northern and tropical climate conditions. The data acquired during testing is processed, and if needed, design and technological changes are incorporated into the documentation.

The geography of test and certification facilities makes it possible to consider ambient climate features in full (from frost, snowfall, and ice to heat, sea salts in the air and soil, sandstorms) for the further implementation of uSky Transport projects anywhere on our planet.
