General Designer of uSky Technology and Founder of Unitsky String Technologies Inc. Dr. Anatoli Unitsky has personally inspected the installation progress for anchor units on Test Track 4.
An anchor support is one of the most important nodes of the string rail overpass, where the track structure is prestressed by dint of tension. The tension force in a single track structure may reach a value of 1,800 tons, which is being assumed by the anchor unit located above the ground.
The bi-rail track structure has three dynamic bundles of strings: strands to support the track structure, and string strands in the very rails. Therefore, they are segregated into upper (above the load-bearing floor slab) and lower (under the load-bearing ceiling slab) chords. Each anchor unit assumes a horizontal force/load of up to 800–900 tons (a load comparable to the weight of 15 heavy tanks). That said, the left-hand and right-hand rails are energized at 750V, which significantly complicates the power structure. The prestressed strings are not subject to anchorage only, but the rails are to be isolated from each other as well as from the supports and from the body of the rolling stock – uPod with steel wheels, through which current is collected.
The anchor unit is the most important node in the entire transport and infrastructure complex. Therefore, the General Designer has personally inspected the quality of the assembly, which is a function of the durability and reliability of the entire uSky complex.
The General Designer has also personally examined the anchor support, checked the installation technology, the quality of welding, concrete and steel for compliance with the design directly in situ on the bearing floor slab.
According to the results of the inspection, it was concluded that the works had been carried out in accordance with the design intent, neither any comments nor deviations were revealed. Prior to the delivery to the site, the company controls the quality of such complex multi-ton units during factory acceptance tests, which are UAE-fabricated.
