The Republic of Rwanda is a small country located in the heart of the African continent. The enchanting nature's beauty and richness as well as the diversity of the fauna make Rwanda attractive to millions of tourists from all over the world. But in addition, Rwanda is an amazing example of how an African country can embark upon a new innovative development path, overcome corruption inherent in African countries and ensure economic development and growth in the well-being of its citizens. The country's leadership has set an ambitious goal to make Rwanda a technological hub and a centre for the application of new ideas on the continent.
As Ms. Clare Akamanzi, CEO of the Rwanda Development Board, stated during her recent visit to uSky Test & Certification Centre, this is a small and unwealthy country, but a brave nation never fearing new solutions and discoveries.
It was the high interest of the Rwanda Development Board in novel uSky Transport & Infrastructure Technology that facilitated the visit of our representatives to Kigali, the capital of Rwanda.
uSky representatives met Minister of Infrastructure Dr. Ernest Nsabimana, Vice-Mayor in charge of Kigali Urbanisation and Infrastructure Dr. Mpabwanamaguru Merard, Managing Director at Kigali Innovation City Ms. Tesi Rusagara.
uSky Transport delegates presented options for passenger transportation projects, and invited engineers and specialists from Rwanda to visit uSky Test & Certification Centre for a detailed acquaintance with uSky Transport & Infrastructure Technology.
The priority has been given to potential project of uSky track between Kigali and the abuilding airport. This route may allow passengers to reach their destinations quickly, safely and comfortably.
Advantages of uSky urban complex in comparison with traditional transport solutions may be:
Solving the issue of fast and comfortable transportation of passengers and luggage from Bugesera Airport to the capital of Rwanda Kigali (Kigali International Airport);
Shorter travel time due to high speed of electric vehicles and no traffic jams en route;
Adaptability of uSky Transport & Infrastructure Complex to the existing passenger flow;
Guaranteed safety of transportation in unfavorable seasonal weather conditions;
Sustainable transport solution with zero pollution and noise;
Scalability of uSky transport network within the urban infrastructure of Kigali and extendability of the route from Bugesera Airport to Rilimi in the future.
Some options for building a public transport network in Kigali were also considered. At the same time, Rwanda realizes that the main advantages of uSky technology are financial efficiency, environmental friendliness, applicability on hilly terrain, adaptability to local social conditions, which differentiate uSky Transport & Infrastructure Technology when planning the construction of a public transport system.
An innovative rail electric vehicles – uLite and uCar – are considered as rolling stocks for the given system.
The representatives of Rwanda expressed their interest in the construction of uSky Transport routes and outlined the first steps towards the implementation of the presented projects.
